We’re here to help with billing matters related to your care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General. All patients must complete the hospital’s financial eligibility process so we can provide you with the best information about your bill. An eligibility worker will collect your information to verify your insurance coverage or determine your eligibility for other programs if you do not have insurance.

Charge Description Master
List of Billable Items
The Charge Description Master (CDM), or Chargemaster, is a listing of items that could be billed to a patient, payer, or health care provider. The most current Chargemaster can be found on the State of California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) website.
Payer’s Bill of Rights
The State of California established the Payer’s Bill of Rights which requires that each hospital:
- Make a copy of its CDM (Chargemaster) available to the public.
- Have available by request a list of the 20 most common procedures or services and five room and bed rates
In compliance with California law, a hardcopy of the San Francisco General Hospital chargemaster is available to the public for viewing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays) by visiting Patient Financial Services, Building 10, 5th Floor, Room 1517.

Available to All San Franciscans
Healthy San Francisco is a program designed to make health care services available and affordable to uninsured San Francisco residents. It is available to all San Francisco residents regardless of immigration status, employment status or preexisting conditions. Healthy San Francisco staff can also help you learn if you now qualify for Medi-Cal or insurance under health reform.
