Placements for Students in programs not related to Nursing

Students are individuals who are enrolled in an approved academic program that has a current placement agreement with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. These programs include, but are not limited to, nursing, rehabilitation, health administration, public health, radiology, and nutrition. Please note that student placements within ZSFG will not involve any payment.

  • Orientation Requirement – All students are required to complete Online Orientation.
    • Clinical students: You must complete an orientation module before starting your clinical rotation or placement.
    • Non-clinical students: You must complete an orientation within 30 days of your start date.
  • Students are required to provide their preceptor with a copy of the Certificate of Completion. For more information, please contact zsfg.elm@sfdph.org
  • Additionally, please submit a signed copy of the COVID-19 Additional Student Orientation to your preceptor.
  • Complete Privacy and Compliance training and include a copy of Privacy and Compliance certificate.

School/Faculty (Academic Partners)

Schools include universities, colleges, technical schools, institutes, high schools (16 or older) or community colleges that offer educational or training opportunities resulting in credit for enrolled students.

Faculty are instructors or coordinators employed by an academic program to provide instruction to students.

Student Checklist

  • For students to be placed on the ZSFG campus, the school must first execute an agreement.
  • Check to see if the school and program are on the approved list of schools and programs (see resources).
  • If the school or program is not on the Approved List of Schools and Programs, please fill out the Student Placement Agreement Form to begin the agreement process.
  • To see if a placement is available for your student(s) review the list of current preceptors. Please note: You must contact the potential ZSFG Preceptor (this PDF will need to be reuploaded on ZSFG) directly.
