The Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition teams at ZSFG promoted colorectal cancer awareness, the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., throughout March, including by hosting two community events (March 7 and 19) at ZSFG.

Throughout the month, the team encouraged early detection and screenings and taking the stigma out of talking about colon health. To spark conversations on prevention, events included education materials and healthy nutrition guides. Thank you to all the endoscopists, nurses, techs, and nutrition staff who organized this first-time event.

DPH is proud of and grateful for ZSFG’s Gastroenterology Team Shout of endoscopists, endoscopy nurses, techs, nurse practitioner, and patient access staff who performed 4,836 procedures last year for colon cancer screening and surveillance.
