Sin categorizar Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie Visits ZSFG diciembre 11, 2024 We hosted a visit from Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie. Throughout his visit, ZSFG shared programs that have been developed to better help patients experiencing substance use addiction – no matter where they are on their journey. I led the tour with Chief Nursing Officer, Gillian Otway, which included a visit to the Emergency Department, where the mayor-elect learned about the Social Medicine team, a multidisciplinary team of ZSFG social workers, pharmacists, nurses, physicians and many others who provide patients and providers with safe alternative options that prevent hospitalization by assessing and treating these complex social factors. Mayor-elect Lurie also thanked the team for the critical role they play in providing care as the only level 1 trauma center in the City and in responding to everyday emergencies. He also met the hospital’s Chief Integrative Officer, Angelica Alameida, who shared information on recovery programs such as the Bridge Clinic which provides low-barrier, evidence-based treatment and care and the Addiction Care team who provides care to people making emergency department visits or hospitalized for other medical issues. In meeting with the team of care providers in the Family Birth Center, he learned about Team Lily, which is a person-centered, trauma-informed, wrap-around service for pregnant and postpartum people. During his visit to the NICU, he shared his deep gratitude for the staff who are providing care to the babies in critical care, and was reminded “of the deep impact fentanyl has had on our community and also reassured to know that babies exposed to fentanyl are resilient and often recover.”
